Vietnamese Sweet & Sour Soup (Canh Chua Chay)

I am SO excited to have found these AMAZING freeze dried Asian soup cubes. The founder, Theresa, is a GENIUS! I grew up having Asian soups so soups are one of my favorite things. My grandma and my mom would make delicious sweet and sour soup growing up, but I’ve been on a vegetarian/vegan diet for about 6-7 years and I missed this particular soup. There isn’t usually a vegetarian version of this soup at the Vietnamese restaurants I go to so I haven’t had it for so long. When I saw an ad for SUPFOODS and saw they had sweet and sour flavor I was impressed. I was even more impressed when I read the reviews and people said it’s actually packed with FLAVOR. I didn’t want to get my hopes up and be disappointed, BUT let me tell you— this packaged soup is amazing! It gave me the chance to taste the soup I’ve been missing. It isn’t my grandma’s or my mom’s, but it is the closest thing for now and I am so grateful for it. Thank you for making a wonderful product and letting me remember how certain foods can flood me with memories and bring me joy.

I absolutely love that I discovered this company recently, and consider it one of my favorite food finds of all time! It's real food, with no preservatives, healthy, and delicious, all in one tiny little foil packet of compressed and dehydrated vegetables and seasonings, which within 2 minutes turn into a hot and savory bowl of deliciousness.

I love the flavors; the sweet and the sour are a great balance, and I love the vegetables that are in there. I'm not a strict vegetarian, and enjoyed the other sweet and sour soup with shrimp, and I often add chicken or turkey or tofu to these when I make them for some extra protein in my diet.

I really love how clean and healthy they are. I've been taking extra good care of my health since a recent health-scare, and these are an active part of that. I love that I can toss them into my bag and take them with me to have anywhere. I just need to get a little hot water, which is easy enough, or if I wanted to, sure, I could bring a container of hot water with me, of course.

Primarily, it's the fabulous flavors of this Vietnamese soup that make me so happy! And I love that I'm eating real food with no junk in it. I'm so happy to also support a woman-owned, minority owned business, too! How I spend my money, and where, is important to me, and supporting this kind of business matters to me a great deal... the fact that it's delicious, healthy, portable, and totally enjoyable is fabulous! A SUP foods fan for life now!

Excellent taste, as usual!

I ordered the vegitarian package and this flavor is the best, so rich and flavorful. Very easy to make. My only wish is that the serving size was bigger, its less than a cup and to me I have to make at least 2 at a time to fill a mug. Will be purchasing again.

This soup is delicious for your heart, soul and health! It compliments the prawn sweet and sour soup so well. I love it soooooo much i have been promoting Sup Soups to all my family, friends and colleagues!! Ive become your default poster girl, i really love all your soup range!!

Got this really nice vegetable in their. Full of healthy vibrant greens, and the definitive, sour taste,. Like it a lot, not more than the shrimp, shitake, crab, though.

I love all of the soups. Taste like my mom's but so much easier and more convenient for work and travel. I hope you make an asparagus crab egg drop soup one day and chè.

I love soup. I really enjoy easy soup. But, so often easy soups (dried, instant, fast) are salty and taste more of chemicals than real ingredients.

I was very surprised at how delicious this soup was. I saw the dried okra, tomatoes and other vegetables. The soup is clear with a light, refreshing sweet/sour taste. Nothing heavy handed or artificial. The veggies had integrity in both flavor and texture. After my first cup, I made another order. I want to try all of the flavors. But this one holds a special place in my taste buds.

I don't know what the authentic soup tastes like but this one is delicious! It's a lovely (part of a) snack or addition to a meal. Comforting and quick. I'm going to buy more!

Between the two sweet-and-sour soups I purchased, the one with the shrimp and the vegetarian one, the vegetarian version was more flavorful and closer to what I expect a Vietnamese sweet-and-sour soup should be. I really loved it. My only complaint about this product and the shrimp sweet and sour soup that I bought is that it makes only about 3/4 of a cup of soup. Is your product supposed to be eaten an appetizer and not a meal? Perhaps it is because I am American and portions are larger? Maybe think about making your product a little bit bigger. Otherwise, this one was my favorite and very delicious!

Pleasantly surprised by the quality feel and flavour of these soups. They present very well “in the bowl” Will buy again.

absolutely fabulous. there is a ton of flavor hidden inside that little freeze-dried block. highly recommend their soups.

This is my favourite soup. I prefer it over the shrimp version. Has lots of veggies and tastes amazing.
